On Thursday, October 20th, Sir Shridath Ramphal, Chancellor Emeritus of The University of the West Indies, regional statesman and former Commonwealth Secretary-General, was awarded the highly coveted Chancellor’s Medal at a ceremony held at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination (EBCCI) at The UWI, Cave Hill Campus.
The Chancellor’s medal is a special award of distinction made by The UWI Chancellor to a person who has made a signal, substantial and lasting contribution to the welfare and development of the University of the West Indies, or has enabled the University to access significant resources for the achievement of its mission of unlocking the region’s potential through delivering quality higher education through teaching, outreach, service and research.
The West Indies Federal Archives Centre is the official repository of the Ramphal Papers, an accumulation of multimedia records reflecting the life's work of Sir Shridath Ramphal. These papers are open to public access subject only to arrangement and description by the Archivists-in-charge of the Centre.
